Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Light Gauge Shop Drawing Drafter to support the preparation of accurate, detailed shop drawings for light gauge steel construction projects. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience creating shop drawings and is proficient in CAD and/or Revit, with a strong understanding of drafting standards, dimensions, and construction documentation. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented drafter who can interpret architectural and structural plans and translate them into clear, accurate fabrication and installation drawings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed light gauge steel shop drawings based on architectural and structural plans.
- Develop accurate drawings for fabrication and installation purposes.
- Create and modify 2D/3D drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar drafting software.
- Review architectural and structural drawings to identify dimensions, specifications, and construction requirements.
- Coordinate drawings and details to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Incorporate revisions and feedback from engineers, architects, project managers, or clients.
- Check drawings for completeness, accuracy, dimensions, and adherence to projec standards.
- Maintain organized drawing files and documentation.
- Communicate effectively with the project team regarding drawing requirements, revisions, and potential issues.
- Meet project deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience creating light gauge steel shop drawings.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, dimensions, details, and drafting standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple drawing assignments.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to receive feedback and make revisions efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with cold-formed steel (CFS) or light gauge framing.
- Experience preparing drawings for fabrication or installation.
- Knowledge of structural steel/light gauge framing components and construction methods.
- Experience working with U.S.-based construction projects.
- Familiarity with BIM workflows and Revit modeling.
- Experience coordinating architectural and structural drawings.
