Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Light Gauge Shop Drawing Drafter to support the preparation of accurate, detailed shop drawings for light gauge steel construction projects. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience creating shop drawings and is proficient in CAD and/or Revit, with a strong understanding of drafting standards, dimensions, and construction documentation. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented drafter who can interpret architectural and structural plans and translate them into clear, accurate fabrication and installation drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed light gauge steel shop drawings based on architectural and structural plans.
  • Develop accurate drawings for fabrication and installation purposes.
  • Create and modify 2D/3D drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar drafting software.
  • Review architectural and structural drawings to identify dimensions, specifications, and construction requirements.
  • Coordinate drawings and details to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Incorporate revisions and feedback from engineers, architects, project managers, or clients.
  • Check drawings for completeness, accuracy, dimensions, and adherence to projec standards.
  • Maintain organized drawing files and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with the project team regarding drawing requirements, revisions, and potential issues.
  • Meet project deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience creating light gauge steel shop drawings.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, dimensions, details, and drafting standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple drawing assignments.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to receive feedback and make revisions efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cold-formed steel (CFS) or light gauge framing.
  • Experience preparing drawings for fabrication or installation.
  • Knowledge of structural steel/light gauge framing components and construction methods.
  • Experience working with U.S.-based construction projects.
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows and Revit modeling.
  • Experience coordinating architectural and structural drawings.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate is a skilled and detail-oriented drafter who understands that accuracy is critical when producing shop drawings. They should be comfortable working from architectural and structural plans, identifying discrepancies, incorporating revisions, and producing professional drawings that can be used for fabrication and field installation.

Experience Level:

  • Mid-Level to Senior Drafter preferred, with demonstrated experience specifically in light gauge steel shop drawings.
