Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Civil 3D / Point Cloud Drafter to support a commercial drafting and as-built documentation team. The successful candidate will work with raw point cloud data generated through laser scanning and transform that information into accurate technical drawings, plans, measurements, and reports. This role will support projects involving existing buildings, renovations, conversions, extensions, and building-plan submissions. The ideal candidate has strong Civil 3D drafting skills, experience working with point cloud data, and exceptional attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and interpret raw point cloud data from laser scanning projects.
- Create accurate as-built plans and technical drawings using Civil 3D.
- Convert point cloud information into CAD drawings and other required project deliverables.
- Support the preparation of drawings for renovation, conversion, extension, and reconstruction projects.
- Generate reports from point cloud data, including FSL reports and other project-specific reports.
- Review drawings and measurements for accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Organize and maintain project files, drawings, measurements, and documentation.
- Make revisions based on project requirements and quality-control feedback.
- Manage multiple commercial projects while meeting established deadlines.
- Identify discrepancies or incomplete information and proactively communicate them to the appropriate team member.
- Follow established drafting standards, workflows, and project requirements.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience with Civil 3D drafting.
- Experience working with point cloud data and laser-scanning outputs.
- Ability to interpret point cloud data and translate it into accurate drawings and measurements.
- Experience preparing technical reports from point cloud data, preferably including FSL reports.
- Strong understanding of CAD drafting principles.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a commercial/project-based environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Revit or similar building-design software.
- Previous experience working with as-built documentation.
- Experience with construction, renovation, surveying, architectural, or engineering projects.
- Familiarity with government/building-plan submission requirements.
- Experience working with laser scanning and 3D measurement technologies.
Work Schedule:
- Monday–Friday
- 9:00 AM–6:00 PM
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
