Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and resourceful Full-Stack AI Developer to support the development of custom software applications, AI-powered solutions, and business automation systems. The ideal candidate can translate business requirements into functional, scalable software while providing technical recommendations and helping identify the right technologies for each project. This role is suited for a developer who can work independently, solve complex technical problems, and contribute to architectural decisions. The initial focus will be on supporting existing projects in the construction industry while helping expand development capabilities beyond no-code and low-code platforms. The successful candidate will begin on a part-time basis, with the opportunity to take on additional hours as the business grows and project demands increase.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Full-Stack Software Development
- Design, develop, test, and maintain custom web applications and software solutions.
- Build both front-end interfaces and back-end services.
- Develop and integrate APIs, databases, authentication systems, and third-party services.
- Debug existing applications, optimize performance, and resolve technical issues.
- Write clean, maintainable, reusable, and well-documented code.
2. AI Development and Integration
- Integrate AI models, APIs, and AI-powered features into custom applications.
- Develop intelligent workflows, automations, and business process solutions.
- Evaluate AI development tools and frameworks to determine their suitability for specific projects.
- Extend or replace existing no-code and low-code solutions when more flexibility, scalability, or control is required.
- Stay current with emerging AI development technologies and practical implementation methods.
3. Mobile Application Development
- Contribute to the development of native or cross-platform mobile applications.
- Design and implement offline functionality, including local data storage and synchronization when connectivity is restored.
- Ensure applications are reliable, responsive, and suitable for real-world business use.
- Recommend appropriate mobile development frameworks based on project requirements.
4. Technical Architecture and Problem-Solving
- Analyze project requirements and recommend suitable technical approaches.
- Help determine the appropriate programming languages, frameworks, databases, and infrastructure.
- Break down complex requirements into manageable development tasks.
- Identify technical limitations, risks, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide guidance on scalability, maintainability, security, and long-term technical direction.
5. Automation and Third-Party Integrations
- Develop and maintain business process automations using tools such as Zapier and other integration platforms.
- Connect applications, APIs, databases, and external services.
- Troubleshoot integration issues and improve existing workflows.
- Identify opportunities to replace manual processes with reliable software solutions.
6. Testing, Documentation, and Security
- Conduct unit, integration, and functional testing as appropriate.
- Follow secure coding practices and protect confidential business and client information.
- Maintain technical documentation, code repositories, and deployment instructions.
- Work under applicable confidentiality agreements and project-specific security requirements.
- Participate in code reviews and quality assurance activities.
7. Collaboration and Project Execution
- Work directly with the business owner to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
- Communicate progress, blockers, and technical decisions clearly.
- Provide realistic estimates and flag potential delays early.
- Take ownership of assigned deliverables while remaining open to feedback and collaboration.
- Support multiple projects as priorities evolve.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience in full-stack software development.
- Strong understanding of front-end and back-end development principles.
- Practical experience building and maintaining production-ready applications.
- Experience working with REST APIs, databases, authentication, and third-party integrations.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues independently.
- Experience integrating AI services, large language models, or AI-powered APIs into applications.
- Familiarity with Git or other version control systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and software design skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage competing priorities.
- Willingness to participate in technical assessments, live coding, or project-based evaluations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience building native or cross-platform mobile applications.
- Experience implementing offline-first applications, local storage, and data synchronization.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and platforms such as Base44 or similar solutions.
- Experience with Zapier or other workflow automation tools.
- Experience with cloud hosting, application deployment, CI/CD, and production monitoring.
- Experience designing scalable application architectures.
- Background developing software for construction, field services, project management, or other operationally focused industries.
- Experience working directly with business owners or clients to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Technical Skills:
Candidates should demonstrate practical proficiency in relevant technologies. The final technology stack will be determined based on the client’s project requirements.
- Front-End Development: JavaScript/TypeScript and modern front-end frameworks.
- Back-End Development: Node.js, Python, or other relevant server-side technologies.
- Databases: SQL or NoSQL databases, data modeling, and database optimization.
- API Development: REST APIs, third-party integrations, and authentication.
- AI Development: LLM APIs, AI integrations, prompt engineering, and AI-enabled workflows.
- Mobile Development: Native or cross-platform mobile frameworks, offline storage, and synchronization.
- Development Tools: Git, debugging tools, testing frameworks, and deployment platforms.

Work Arrangement:
- Initial engagement will be part-time, with potential to transition to full-time.
